Poker is a card game that contains a combination of skill, strategy and luck. Unquestionable, poker is one of the most popular card betting games in casino. Poker is played in the standard deck of 52 cards. It is played on either for money or for chips purchased from the game's banker.
The Rules
The main goal of poker games is to win the pot by holding the best hand or by encouraging other players to drop. In every round, the player must choose between the three options. The first one is fold or stop playing the hand, then there's a call or the bet made is equal, and lastly, a raise or increasing the bet. These bets are placed together to form a pot. And there goes your goal.
Poker Categories
Draw Poker
This variant of poker game deals every player a hand of cards to allow them to exchange some of their original cards for new ones. If you love playing five card draw, then this one is good for you.
Stud Poker
Stud poker is a non-positional game, meaning that the player who bets first on each round may change from round to round. Usually the player whose face-up cards make the best hand for the game being played. To be able to win in this game, the player must have the best hands. This is usually a slow type of poker compared to the other variants.
Community Poker
Community poker is a fast paced and often build up huge pots. Each player receives hole cards which they can use along with community cards laid on the center of the table. These community cards will be flipped as the game begins then shared to other players. The most popular type of this poker is Texas Hold'em.
Wild Card Games
This wild card is referred to as the Joker. The wild card can worth an ace if your have a straight hand or a flush. Wild card poker game helps increase big pots. This kind of poker is recommended to those longed for a full excitement type of game.
The Hand Rankings
Poker is played with the standard 52 cards. These are the ace, king, queen, jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, ranked by highest to lowest. The suits are equally ranked in every game.A poker hands has a card of five because each rankings are only based on these five cards.
Five of a Kind
This is only possible when you're playing wild poker or wild cards. A five of a kind is the highest possible hand. If there is a tie, or more than one player has five of a kind, the higher card will be the winner.
Straight Flush
A straight flush is a straight five card in order that belongs on the same suit. In straight flush, your ace may be high or low. However, if the cards are arranged like “turn the corner” style like K-A-2-3-4, then this is not considered as straight.
Royal Flush
The highest possible poker hand. It consists of the five highest cards which is the ace, king, queen, jack and ten. All must belong on the same suit.
Four of a Kind
Four cards on the same rank. The fifth card doesn't matter here if you aced this ranking. But if there are two or more winners, the hand with the higher rank wins. Or sometimes in wild games, it depends on the fifth card or the wild card.
Full House
It is a combination of three of a kind in a rank and a pair on other rank. If there are ties, they will first look up on the three of a kind then on the pair.
Flush
It is a kind of hand that consists of five cards on the same suit. If there is a tie, compare each hands by the highest cards.
Straight
It is a five card in order. Unlike the Straight flush, the hand may consists five cards in order in different suits. If a tie occurs, the one with the higher ranking cards win.
Three of a Kind
Three card that belongs on the same rank with two card from two different rank. Highest possible three of a kind wins if a tie occur.
Two Pair
Two pairs of two cards on an equal rank and a fifth card. If the hands have the same pairs, then the one with the high card wins.
Pair
This have two cards on the same rank with three cards on different ranks. If a tie occurs, the hand with the higher pair is better. If there is an equal pair, compare the highest ranking cards.
High Card
If none of the said rankings are qualified. Meaning, in five cards, it did not form any of the listed ones. In comparing this hands, the one with the highest first card wins.
